Action Needed: Army Corps LA River Bike Path Meeting Monday

No matter what type of involvement you have in cycling, if you’ve read this far, then showing up Monday night is your duty.

For the second straight year, the Army Corps of Engineers have arbitrarily shut down the LA River Bike Path and it’s time to have our voices heard.

I’m not going to put words in people’s mouths, but if you called this six month closure an overreaching abuse of power, I’m sure you’d have more than a few people agreeing with you.

When the Mount Hollywood Drive issue happened last year, we flooded the hall in Griffith Park and our presence let the Department of Recs and Parks know we were a force to be reckoned with.

It was standing room only last year for the Mt. Hollywood Drive meeting.

Next Monday, it is just as important to mobilize and let it be known the closure of the LA River Bike Path is unacceptable.

The meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers takes place at the Friendship Auditorium at 3201 Riverside Drive from 6:30 pm to 8:30pm.

If you need a refresher on what to say, here’s Colin Bogart of LACBC with a few of the finer points.

I know this is Election Day eve and maybe the timing is there to deter , but this is super important to have a strong showing.

Please plan on coming and spread the word.
