Epic rides are important.
Having the time to be one with all that nature has to offer provides the opportunity to exhale and escape from your everyday life.
CiclaValley should be posting about a few of these rides, including a three parter from Santa Rosa from September.
If you noticed, that was a long time ago and compiling these posts take longer than you think.
That’s why I’ll share just a few shots from one of my favorite spots, Mount Baldy.
A week before, I spent the weekend before riding with a few friends in Sequioa National Forest (that’s on my docket too) which went as perfect as possible, even though I received a little bitching for some of the climbs.
While I didn’t expect to duplicate that experience, having access to this climb with just a 45 minute drive is truly remarkable.
Once again, Victor was up for this type of adventure despite being off the bike for travel the last few weeks.
We took the fire road up to the ski lodge (not to be confused with the lifts a mile below) which is a three mile grind up dirt averaging 8%.
Being able to experience that level of solitude among unfettered beauty made for a great Friday ride:
Remember to always refill your bottles at Mount Baldy Lodge
Enjoy the switchbacks
Dry & dusty
It’s tempting to get on the ski lifts at the end…
The view from the ski lodge
It’s a bit of climbing…..
