The Sand Fire meant a lot to many people.
When I did my article on Monday, I did not expect this type of outpouring.
It wasn’t just the messages of shock that I received from locals, but even people from outside our circle of California were getting an idea of the destruction of the first time.
Seeing the before and after photos gives people context if this is their first time witnessing the destruction.
I don’t normally post twice on the same subject, but I thought I’d include some new photos, including more from this May’s Amgen Tour of California, to give people more of a perspective:
Here’s the peloton from Stage 2 about 1km away from the summit.
..and this is now.
Just around the corner to the summit.
…and now nothing.
Looking new the first peak of Little Tujunga Canyon(via google maps)
..and now.
Looking across the Pacoima Wash area.
and now.
Some people asked how the Magic Mountain area did after the fire(the actual mountain, not the theme park). You can see the peak up on the right hand side. Everything around it seemed to have been enveloped with fire.
Here are some of the photos I previously added from the Tour of California
I’m including a number of before and after photos from this year’s Tour of California. The race happened just three months ago, but such a dichotomy of landscape…
…and now nothing.
Here’s a number of cycling fans watching the peloton pass at this year’s Stage Two of the Tour of California…
…and now.
These are the race leaders about a mile from the top….
…and now.
Very easy to place where this was…
…and now.
