Mr. CiclaValley is a bit behind the times not to be considered fashion forward, but finally I have the chance to be ahead of the curve.
A new local outfit called Volar Active recently created its first line of design products: cycling socks that center around the iconic rides around Los Angeles.
The line features the La Tuna Canyon, Big Tujunga and Griffith Park routes that every serious cyclist should have already covered. Also in this first production run is an elegant black sock with white dots.
What’s so particularly endearing about the Griffith Park design, is that it also displays some of the favorite spurs, like Beachwood Canyon and the Hollywood Sign. Also, if you get lost, all you need to do is clip out and look down!
The designs come straight from fellow cyclist and friend, Rafael, who may be the most frequent guy I run into in the valley.
With my limited experience in the fashion industry(limited supply available), quick success is hard to find. Not for these socks.
Even though he’s been selling them for about a month, sales have already been fierce and he’s already planning the next line of production to include other iconic routes and a line of bottles and caps.
The socks come in all sizes and cost only $15 a pair.
The best way to reach him is to sign up through his email list on the Volar Active website.
Also, you can get your fill of cool cycling pics on his instagram page as well.
