Great Valley Bicycle Roundup

The Valley Bike Ambassadors from the LACBC look to start a new tradition towards bringing rides to highlight the area.

On Saturday, November 14th, the group will be leading the first Great Valley Bicycle Roundup, a fifteen mile family ride around the west valley that will loop around many cycling highlights.

The ride will meet and leave from the Winnetka / Pierce College Orange Line Station and head east on the bike path out to Lake Balboa park. The group will do a clockwise loop around the western portion of the park, first stopping at the Pedlow Skate Park on Victory.

Ride behind this space lies an empty lot along the LA River which is slated for the city’s first bike park! You can learn more about this great endeavor by checking out their facebook page.

The loop will continue on where the group will stop at a different portion of the park, checking out the venerable Encino Velodrome. The track hosts training and racing all year round and is the oldest facility in Los Angeles.Encino Velodrome11

Heading westward, families that want to end the ride short can continue back to the Winnetka / Pierce College start. The rest will head north on Reseda, eventually making their way to the LA River Bike Path.

This segment includes three miles of uninterrupted riding that will hopefully connect with the path down in Griffith Park.

The ride’s last stop will turn into the new REI at the Village at Westfield Topanga. where the riders can grab a water before heading back.

Last, the ride will circle around Pierce College to return back to the start. All in all, there will be a lot to see.
