Griffith Park Advisory Board Meeting Tomorrow: Vision Plan

If you’ve followed this little blog lately, you’ll notice how closely we’ve been following the Mount Hollywood Drive situation.

GriffithThe Griffith Park Advisory Board is holding their monthly meeting tomorrow and while there won’t be any closure on the road closure matter(apparently, a traffic engineer is studying the results of the pilot program), the park’s Vision Plan is on the agenda.

While keeping Mount Hollywood Drive permanently closed to car traffic is important, so are a number of other issues dealing with Griffith Park as well.

The Recreation and Parks Department has been looking for other sources of funding that compromises Griffith’s future. Already we’ve seen movement concerning the Greek Theatre, Old Zoo and Crystal Springs Picnic Area that would make this park seem more like a parking lot.

A great resource that should be on everyone’s radar is the Friends of Griffith Park. There is no greater group that works harder for the park’s preservation and maintaining its integrity.

Come to tomorrow’s meeting to voice your opinion about what the next one hundred years of Griffith Park should like. I’ll be IMG_20150326_195215leading a feeder ride out of SweetSalt again at 5:30pm.
