Weekly Round Up: Marathon Crash Ride Lives Up to Name

It would be very easy to overlook this past week, since the first Valley CicLAvia is coming, but a lot happened in this short time. In other words, this is going to be a meaty post. Let’s get to it!

The biggest cycling event was without a doubt the Marathon Crash Ride. I wrote about it yesterday including my intricate details of failure, but there’s some good video out there. The first is by a friend of mine(who has tried to out sprint UCI cyclists before) that shows the chaos near the front. Pay attention at the 3:45 mark. That is all I need to say:

This is my time lapse from the side. If anything it shows you the size of the ride. Let me know if you find yourself:

As for me, this is where I ended up putting my “miles” in:

Another major event was the LA Marathon. Yes, it’s running, but it’s big news(like every station covering it big) when fallen cyclist Damian Kevitt completes his first race on one good leg! He was pretty spry at mile 19 despite all the effort put in:

CiclaValley enthusiast sent me some pics from a Saturday bike riding trip out on the Victory Trails from the Aguora Hills-ish area. It makes you think that you’re in Central California. I tried taking my cyclocross out there only to be thwarted by sand.

Lastly, I took to the streets helping spread the word to Ventura Blvd. businesses that CicLAvia is coming, just in case they forgot the first time. To start our countdown, here’s a few event related things. First the weather:

Next, if you’re lucky enough to receive one of these, Mr. CiclaValley has been handing out route cards to help draw awareness to CicLAvia:

…and lastly, my big Mother of all CicLAvia previews will be out tomorrow. Clear your week!
