This is going to be no CicLAvia.
And that’s a good thing.
We are now living in a a Golden Age where we have multiple open streets events that you want to make sure each had their own identity.
626 Golden Streets should bring a new viewpoint towards these events and you should be there Sunday to see it.
First of all, if you’ve never been around the San Gabriel Valley, this will be a great introduction.
Starting in South Pasadena and stretching to Azusa, you’ll be covering a lot of ground.
What do you expect out of 18 miles!
In fact, there’s probably so much to see that if you cover the entire distance, you might have trouble making it back before it closes.
Don’t worry, you can always take the Gold Line back.
To add to it all, 626 is going to have EIGHT activity hubs along the course, so you’re probably not going to be able to eat at every food truck during the day.
One thing to check out during the event is the Irwindale Hub 626CX City Cross Cycle-Fest.
There’s a 75km Gravel Grinder taking you around the area, but seeing how I’m working part of the day, I’m looking to give City Cross a try.
This is a timed event, so you can pretty much show up and have at it when you want.
The folks at Bike SGV have been promoting the heck out of this and I’m sure this is going to be a big draw.
What everyone will be asking after is what happens to Gabe the Sasquatch after?
The Dodgers don’t have a mascot yet….
