Rain or Shine Valley Events: Draft L. A. & SMMC Anniversary Benefitting Milt Olin Foundation

I like listing events in the valley, but you know what I like doing more?

Listing good ones.

This Thursday Pure Cycles are hosting their 2nd Draft L.A. event via People for Bikes with a number of speakers, tacos and beer on hand.

It starts out with mingling hour where you’ll run into a number of other leaders of the cycling community while you’re coming down on grub.

Then the program begins which is featuring Michelle Mowery, the recently promoted Sr. Project Coordinator with the LA RiverWorks team, Naomi Iwasaki of LA Great Streets, the Wolfpack Hustle man Don Ward, a Zwift demo and SoCalCross’ and all-around awesome everything Dorothy Wong.
I had a real blast at this last event and you have every reason to make it.

If you can’t afford to get in, then you have problems because it’s free.

All you have to do is register here to let the good times begin.

On Sunday, Santa Monica Mountain Cyclery (SMMC) is holding their 6th Anniversary Party at their shop in Woodland Hills (21526 Ventura Blvd.)

I personally own a bike stand from their shop, but I bet you can’t guess which one?

On top of free food and drinks, this celebration will also be a fundraiser for the Milt Olin Foundation.

As part of their #HandsOffMovement, they launched their own app last year to discourage drivers from using their phone.

They will be holding a raffle, including prizes as a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset, Electra Townie Go bike, Garmin 820 and many others, where 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

If you can’t make it, you can still get into the game by purchasing tickets online.

It’s supposed to get pretty rainy to end out the week, but that doesn’t have to stop you from being away from bikes!
