VIDEO: Bike Angeles rolls CicLAvia

CicLAvia has transformed Los Angeles in a manner I never thought I’d ever see again.

As disparate of a region we live in, there are few things that come around that forms bonds across all boundaries that makes us feel like we’re part of the same community.

The biggest instance I reference prior to CicLAvia launching in 2010 that comes to mind was the 1984 Olympics when the torch made its way across the city.

As streets were closed along the route, people came from far and wide touching every demographic just to see it pass by bringing a sense of pride that we as a whole were the center of the universe.

While roadways get closed off for concerts, farmer markets, parades, etc., nothing quite compares to the open streets of CicLAvia.

Experiencing Los Angeles without a car brings the city down to human scale.

Everyone appreciates the freedom to travel at their own speed without the hinderance of looking around for a parking spot as a consideration.

Throw in the fact that you get to ride by iconic landmarks and eclectic neighborhoods, CicLAvia is an accessible and unique event that appeals to all.

I love the fact that CicLAvia routes have taken many shapes across the county, but no matter what the variety, the experience is the same.

If only this was Los Angeles everyday.
